Cleanup and catch-up
Behind on the books, with a deadline in front of you.
Reconstruction, reconciliation, and a closed trial balance you can hand to a lender, a buyer, or a preparer — plus a plan so it doesn't happen again next year.
When this turns urgent
A lender wants statements.
Financing or a line of credit, and the bank wants two years of financials that currently don't exist.
A partner is coming or going.
A buy-in, a buyout, or a divorce — and someone's basis has to be defensible on paper.
You're selling.
Diligence will find whatever the books hide. Better that you find it first, on your own timeline.
How it's priced.
Cleanup bills at $175 an hour, estimated after we've looked at the file and quoted in writing before anything starts. Systems setup — chart of accounts rebuild, app stack, opening balances — is quoted separately.
We can't quote cleanup without seeing the books, so this starts the same way everything else does: a diagnostic. It tells us the scope and tells you your tax position at the same time, which matters because a year of unreconciled books usually means a year of estimates that didn't track the income either.
What happens after.
Cleanup is a one-time engagement, billed once. Most clients who go through it don't want to repeat it, which is why it usually rolls into a monthly engagement — the books stay closed, and the returns come with it.
If you'd rather handle the books yourself going forward, that's fine too. We'll hand back a clean file and tell you honestly what it will take to keep it that way.
