When a package isn't the right shape.

If your books need work every February, or you'd rather know your number in June than in March, the annual package is the wrong tool — you're paying for a return when the problem is the eleven months before it.

That's what the monthly engagement is for, and it includes these returns rather than adding to them.

Common questions.

How much does an S corp tax return cost?

Our minimum for a federal 1120-S with one state return and K-1s for up to two owners is $1,600, assuming closed and reconciled books. Additional states, owners, fixed assets, and rental activity move it up, and every figure above the minimum is confirmed in writing before work starts. Most single-state, single-owner S corps land at or near the minimum.

What is reasonable compensation for an S corp owner?

There's no percentage rule, despite what you'll read. The standard is what you'd have to pay someone else to do your job, and the courts weigh training and experience, duties and hours, what comparable businesses pay, and the relationship between compensation and distributions. What matters as much as the number is the documentation behind it — a defensible figure with a written basis holds up; a round number someone picked years ago doesn't.

Do you prepare both the business return and my personal return?

Yes, and we'd rather do both — the two returns are one conversation, and separating them is how owners end up surprised. Engage your 1040 at Collaboration or higher in the same season and $250 comes off the business package automatically.

When are business tax returns due in Oregon?

S corporation and partnership returns are due March 15 federally, with Oregon following the federal date. C corporation returns are due April 15. Extensions push the filing deadline but not the payment deadline — tax owed is still due on the original date, which is where most of the penalty exposure comes from.

Can you file an S corporation election for my LLC?

Yes. Form 2553 is a $450 add-on, including late election relief where it applies. Whether the election is worth making depends on a defensible salary rather than on the payroll tax spread alone — if your profit can't support paying yourself a market wage and still leave a distribution, the election may cost more than it saves.
